“Look Upward…”
“ Recovery and Growth depend on becoming open to loving and being loved, and seemingly miracles occur when individuals change their Life in recognition of these Truths” Peter Breggin MD, Mad in America
WELCOME
to an Intersection of Mental Health, Grief, Recovery, Spiritual Awakening and Art. This is a Sacred Space, an examination of "Fierce Grace." Fierce Grace is a term coined by Spiritual teacher Ram Dass to describe the paradoxical spiritual insight he experienced (growth through suffering) as a result of a stroke. This is a space where we can face our traumas, mistakes and shadows, head on. It is about letting go of guilt and shame and embracing our innate power to Heal.
From “The Song of Amergin”, considered to be one of the oldest Irish literary works, from its earliest settlers, the Milesians:
I am the wind that blows across the sea; I am a wave of the deep; I am the roar of the Ocean; I am the stag of seven battles; I am a hawk on a cliff; I am a ray of sunlight; I am the greenest of plants; I am the wild boar; I am a salmon in the river; I am a lake on the plain; I am the word of knowledge; I am the point of a spear; I am the lure beyond the ends of earth; I can shift my shape like a god
What is:
Dark Night of the Soul- According to Eckhart Tolle it is a term that goes back a long time. Yes, it is a phrase used to describe what one could call a collapse of a perceived meaning in Life…an eruption into your Life of a deep sense of meaninglessness. The inner state in some cases, is very close to what is conventionally called depression. Nothing makes sense anymore, there’s no purpose to anything. Sometimes, it is triggered by some external event, some disaster perhaps, on an external level. The death of someone close to you, could trigger it, especially premature death, for example if your child dies, or you had built up your Life, your activities, your achievements, where you are going, what is considered important, and the meaning that you had given your Life for some reason collapses. In Roman Catholic spirituality, it describes a spiritual crisis in the Journey toward Union with God, like that described by St. John of the Cross.
Spiritual Emergence(y)- the movement of an individual to a more expanded way of being that involves enhanced emotional and psychosomatic health, greater freedom of personal choices and a sense of deeper connection with other people, nature and the cosmos.
Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey- The Hero’s Journey is a classic story structure that’s shared by stories world wide. Coined by academic Joseph Campbell in 1949, it refers to a wide-ranging category of tales in which a character ventures out to get what they need, faces conflict and ultimately triumphs over adversity.
